Being Clever at Fundraising

As a small charity, we are lucky to have some fantastic supporters, and we are always keen to learn about the ways and methods they use to fund raise, especially as people feel the pinch on their pound in our modern living. We ourselves are always exploring different ways of trying to reach out for funding, donors and sponsors, and we like to remind people that every-single-penny really does count.

One of the ways we have been developing our fundraising is through the use of digital channels, not to try and attract large sums of money, but for those smaller donations that people can make easily through online activities.

One of our supporters - Peter Clayton - recently contacted us with his method of raising funds for us - as he explains below:

"Just to let you know that I have set up my listings on eBay to give a donation of 15% of each sale to your Charity. So far in 6 weeks, sales have raised and sent approximately £137. I am proud of that and really pleased that I have found a small way to support your Charity. Perhaps you could use this message to inspire others to support you in this way." Thank you Peter! This is very impressive and is just one of the ways that people can make a significant difference by raising funds in a way that compounds over time and begins to add up to significant sums of money in the longer term. Not that it matters how much or how little, as every penny really does count when you are small fish in a big pond trying to attract donations among the myriad of advertising, and let's face it - some damn right deserving causes.

People have also been using online shopping as a way of raising funds too. Through Give as you Live supporters can shop online as they normally would do, and then a small percentage of the shop is given back as a donation to us. Again at no cost to the supporter. The biggest part of it is remembering to shop through Give as you Live first!

So thinking outside of the box can result in lots of great ways to help support and raise funds not only for us, but for any chosen charity. Let us know of any other ways you might already use - and we will add the details here for others to learn about.

Happy fundraising.
