What skills, experience, and personal attributes are needed?
We are looking for people from a variety of backgrounds who feel they have something to give to Veterans With Dogs. Volunteers are of all ages, sixteen and upwards, and there is no specific experience required to becoming a Volunteer. All you need is a passion to support our Veterans and our organisation.

What you can expect from Veterans With Dogs?
In return for your valuable support we aim to ensure that volunteering for Veterans With Dogs is a fulfilling and worthwhile experience. You will have support from existing volunteers and our staff, with the opportunity to gain and develop skills. Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with our volunteer expenses policy.

Who will I be volunteering with?
You can choose how you would like to fit in with our work, from working directly with Veterans to working with external groups and supporters. You will be supported on a personal level with direct input from our Trustees. We aim to develop longer-term relationships and we are always on hand as and when needed, for support, guidance, advice or to attend meetings.

How much time will this take?
There is no minimum commitment whatsoever. Whatever suits you will be welcomed by Veterans With Dogs. People have busy lives and we understand this and we promise to be as flexible as to fit with whatever you can offer us in terms of time.
Some time will need to be taken to learn and understand the unique aspects of our work at Veterans With Dogs and we will provide as much time and guidance as is needed for this.

But there are so many organisations needing help, why should I choose Veterans With Dogs to volunteer my time?
We cannot dispute the fact that there are many worthy causes needing help, especially in today’s’ economic climate, but we would hope that our passion and determination to make a difference to the lives of our Veterans and their dogs is apparent enough to speak for itself. We are friendly and welcoming of all people, and central to the way we work is to be personal. We shall always remain true to this approach, so if this works for you then we would love to hear from you.

Events and Campaigns

Our events rely on the support of volunteers to make them a success. We need more people to help with events that raise the profile of our work and increase awareness.

BackOffice Support

Volunteers can get involved in a number of roles including administrative, research and project support.

Approved Trainers

Dog trainers are needed in various locations to help deliver our PALS programme to Veterans.

We need people help to raise vital funds and awareness within local communities in order for us to continue and to expand our work. Volunteers play a major role in raising the profile of the charity within their local regions and promoting our fundraising initiatives to a diverse range of audiences.

Support Volunteers

We need people who can spend some time with a Veteran who is actively training or working with their own dog, as a friendly ear or ‘second pair of eyes’ for them.
